Garlic: wonder drug!

Having bad breath when consuming garlic is probably not the way to go when trying to impress someone. But, it’s comforting to know that garlic is beneficial for our health. Garlic is one of the oldest medicinal herbs and commonly known as the “wonder drug”.  It was used during WWI as bandages to prevent infections. In addition raw garlic has been used as mosquito repellent, assist high cholesterol and treat acne. Garlic belongs in the herbal family that contains sulfur (the alliaceous family) and these herbs (including shallots, leeks, chives, onions) are also known to help regulate blood sugar levels. So, despite the fact that garlic gives us stinky breath I think the good outweighs the bad in this situation! Next time when someone tells you that you have bad garlic breath you should tell him or her the benefits of eating garlic despite your breath. Maybe a fresh mint afterwards will change the course of the conversation!
