Fun Photos!

My sister and I went to the Taipei Young Design Exhibition and I took some of these photos of people's artwork. Some of them were really neat and innovative!


Cookie or stool? Both! The side of the cookie has been bitten off too and there were crumbs on the floor.


This is by far my favorite piece at the show. In asian culture, we pray to different gods and burn paper money as well as give offerings via food. The young generation these days (including myself) may not understand the different rituals as well so this artist decided to create an environmentally friendly "to go" temple in order to educate and preserve this tradition (in its modern form). Ah, postmodernism love it!



If you went to school in Taiwan these little booklets would look familiar because they are the workbooks you use to write your characters and essays in. This artist decided to use this image as a packaging design for cookies. Sooo cute!


Love this artwork, it says EAT LESS MEAT! Could almost be like a propaganda poster haha.

things you don't see everyday....

In Chinese tradition long noodles = long life. A relative went to the temple to pray for Dad's quick recovery and sent us this huge noodle statue with the Chinese character 寿 which means longevity. A very thoughtful gesture, and when it was delivered I couldn't help but take a picture to share with everyone. We have still yet to open it up and make a meal out of it to feed Dad!

Great way to reuse and recycle tea pots, grow plants in them! Saw this decoration along the path of a restaurant the other day and thought it was a very creative idea to make use of old tea kettles. You don't see this in cities very often and if we did it probably would be a kind of "public art" of some sort as people say nowadays. Regardless, it makes us think of ways to reuse our things at home doesn't it?
